Hi! I’m Kendall, but you can call me Ken.
I am a registered nurse from Saskatchewan, Canada and the creator of Travel RN Ken – a resource dedicated to helping nurses build more freedom, adventure, and financial opportunity through travel nursing.

Over the past several years, I’ve worked eleven travel nurse contracts across North America, gaining experience in many different specialties. On my days off and between assignments, I explore new places and spend time doing things that bring me joy – like hiking, surfing, golfing, yoga, and skiing. Travel nursing completely transformed my career and lifestyle, allowing me to combine my passion for patient care with my love for adventure and exploration.
Why I Started Travel RN Ken
When I first began looking into travel nursing, especially cross-border travel nursing as a Canadian RN, the information online was confusing, scattered, and incomplete. It took months of roadblocks and researching licensing requirements, visas, taxes, and travel nurse agencies before I finally figured it out.
After going through the process myself and helping a few fellow nurses along the way, I decided to create this site. Travel RN Ken exists to provide clear, honest, and practical guides for nurses who want more from their careers. I believe this information should be free and available to anyone interested in travel nursing and non-traditional nursing jobs.
I share everything I’ve learned to help other nurses navigate travel nursing – especially Canadian nurses interested in working travel contracts in Canada, the United States, and beyond.
Here You’ll Find:
- Step-by-step guides for becoming a travel nurse in multiple countries
- Resources for Canadian travel nurses working in the United States
- Tips for maximizing income and negotiating travel nurse pay
- Practical insights from real travel nurse experiences
- Adventurous, non-traditional nursing job opportunities (beyond travel nursing)
Life as a Nomadic Nurse
Over the past few years, I’ve slept in about 250 different beds across the world, moving every few months for new assignments and adventures.
“Home” is wherever I’m with my husband Max and our elderly adventure dog, Piper. Max is an exploration geologist who spends a lot of time prospecting the rural lands of Canada.
Because both of our careers revolve around temporary work, our lifestyle naturally became nomadic. This has given us the freedom to build a life centered around experience instead of routine.

Where Travel Nursing Has Taken Me So Far
Both on assignment and between contracts, travel nursing has taken me to:
- 25 countries
- 16 U.S. states
- 8 Canadian provinces
- countless trails, beaches, road trips, and adventures!
Future Travel Nursing Plans
As a North American nurse, the opportunity to live and work around the globe is incredible – the world really is our oyster!
I would love to work as a travel nurse in Australia and the United Kingdom someday. I’ve done a ton of research on how to make this happen and plan to share it with you soon. I’m also currently learning Spanish with the dream of living and working in my favourite country, Mexico.
Giving back is also so important to me. I plan to volunteer my time and nursing skills to help communities in need. I’ve been keeping my eye on volunteer opportunities in the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and parts of Africa.

I spend hours every week searching job boards, agency listings, and hidden corners of the internet for unique nursing opportunities most people never hear about.
If you’d like a weekly list of adventurous, non-traditional, and travel nursing jobs, drop your email below!
Every week you’ll receive a curated list of current hiring opportunities with direct application links. No spam – just life-changing opportunities!
Examples of jobs I share:
- remote nursing jobs
- high-pay travel contracts
